How to use the formula editor in Timetonic.
The advancements of the formula editor in Timetonic.
Will allow you to transform, calculate, manipulate the data stored in your tables dynamically.
And by combining multiple functions and/or operators within this formula column.
Let's look at this together.
Specifically, go to our workspace.
In a table, I receive orders and I will use the formula column to sum up these orders.
Let's take a quick look to get our bearings. On my editor window, I will have the input area here and find on my right the glossary that allows me to use the available functions, the fields available in my table as well as my operators.
I will find a link to access the documentation from this link in the function or operator item, I will also find the documentation to get started with the formula editor here.
Now, let's see how we will enter in the formula editor.
Use the search bar to select where the operator or function you need is, or use the input element you are looking for to get it directly from your editor. To insert an item available in your table,
Or use the glossary. Or use the character to obtain the dynamic value you need.
Use the indentation option for slightly more complex formulas and improve clarity and validate your formula.
I get my result but I notice that the output value is without a symbol.
So I will add a symbol, adjust my separator, and keep the number.
This option allows you to configure the type of output in the format you want.
I will leave my output as a number type.
And there you go. The element I get is Why use the output format option.
Changing the data format like a date or a number to text.
Is essential to adapt the information for different uses.
Such as display, calculation, or automations.
An example of a combined formula.
I insert my column for my total price including VAT.
Let's combine a formula to obtain the total price including VAT.
I will look for my price excluding tax.
Use an operator.
Fetch my VAT column.
Use the divide operator, isolate, and add my column of the price excluding tax.
I save it. I get my total amount in TTC.
In the output format option, I will adjust the separator and add €1.
There you go. Let's take one last example.
To customize a message that could be sent as a notification using constants, I will create a concat that will combine variables from my table with constants.
I enclose my constants in quotes, choose my fields with the dynamic value character as seen previously, and insert my field.
Here is my result.
Now all that's left is to experiment and test this new editor.
By mastering the advancements of the new formula editor in Timetonic.
You will save time, save columns to perform simple or complex calculations.
