Now let's review the prerequisites in the table. Three columns have been previously installed: a simple text column, a selection column, and a multiline text column. To these columns, I will add a formula column called GEOLOC. This formula column will receive the complete address line. Let’s insert a previously given address into the GEOLOC formula column. The formula geolocates the address's position on the map, and we are going to see concretely how this is illustrated in the view.
I will integrate several addresses. If I click on the field, I get a small map with the location coordinates. I can change the view mode, zoom in or out to get an overview. To create a new view, I click on the "+" button, name the view, and then select the double table view option. Next, I select the map view.
Here I am on a map view. I can zoom in and out, get closer, and navigate the map with my spacebar and mouse. For the configuration, the location point will be the address where the location PIN 📍 will be placed. I will choose the GEOLOC position column, give a name to my PIN 📍, and validate. I get my 4 colored points corresponding to the departments, with the name given to the position.
I can also view the map in satellite view. By selecting a point, I have access to the form corresponding to my row, and I can make modifications or complete the information. Let's see how the map view illustrates when several datasets are concentrated at the same geographical position.
You can observe that from a distance, I see a point with a quantity. This quantity corresponds to the number of points located in the area. I will click on this point, which will zoom in on the area and reveal the individual points. Some points may still display a quantity, indicating a concentration of points at a close address.
Recapitulation:
1. Integrate the data columns into the table with the fields Name, Sector, Complete Address, and the GEOLOC formula.
2. Set up your map view, configure the location with our GEOLOC field, the name given to your PIN 📍, and finally, assign a color to your sector through selection.
