how to schedule an export of your Timetonic data to Metabase. In this video, we will see how to set up a scheduled automated export of data from a table in your workspace to Metabase. Once your database is shared in Metabase, the tool will then be used to build your tracking dashboards. Before we start, a recommended prerequisite: prepare in your table a dedicated view for tracking, the right filters, the right sorting, and it’s this view that you will export; it will make your analyses clear in Metabase. Our goal here is to set up the export, test it, launch it, and verify that your data arrives properly in Metabase. We will cover creating the graphics in the next video. Let's get practical. Open Automation, open the file transfer window, and the export to Metabase is configured exactly in the same place as your FTP and SFTP transfers. In the file transfer window, it’s the same mechanism as for a classic file export. Click on New export to begin. Start by naming the export, provide a description, then select the view previously configured for the data export. In the Connections section, Connection type select Metabase. You don’t have anything to configure; your Metabase instance will automatically appear with its status here, online. However, an important note: this only works if the Metabase subscription has been taken out and if your instance was created with the Timetonic technical team. Next, a shortcut on the right allows you to access Metabase directly by opening a new tab. The login page and your password will allow you to connect. The beginning of the name you see here in gray is imposed and unchangeable. It identifies your workspace, category, and table. We just complete the end with a name of our choice to easily recognize the table in Metabase. You must only use letters, numbers, dashes, or underscores. Spaces become dashes, and accents are removed. Now in the Export strategy section for synchronization. Then, in the synchronization strategy section, we will have two options, update and replace. For the first choice, the incremental update mode. All your Timetonic rows are sent. If a row already exists in Metabase, it is updated; if not, it is added. But be careful, if you delete a row in Timetonic, it remains in Metabase because the deletion information is not transmitted. If you make the second choice, replace in mirror mode, Metabase reflects exactly your Timetonic view. In the next export, those rows also disappear from Metabase. It’s a true mirror. In summary, choose the update option to accumulate without losing anything, and choose replace when Metabase needs to perfectly match your view, including deletions. Just below, two optional settings. What to do if an export is triggered while another one is still running? And what to do in case of failure? The default values are suitable in most cases. Choose to select a person to notify in case of export failure. You can also notify a contact for the success of the export. You will be able to schedule the export of your data at a recurrence that fits your needs. Once your scheduling is set up, you save, and if you click on the Test configuration button, you will be able to save and test the export configuration, which will give you a sample of the exported templates. The "Test configuration" button will check that you have the connection with Metabase and display a preview of your data. Everything in green indicates that the connection is established. We see that we have eight rows in the table and can preview the rows. Now we can launch the export immediately when you confirm. A green message indicates that the export has been completed successfully. We will go to the Metabase space. Enter your access address and password. You arrive at the Metabase interface. Find your exported database, go to the Data tab, Database, and locate the database with the name you gave it. And here is the exported database. A useful point, if your table does not appear immediately after the success of your export, that is normal. Metabase syncs its schema about once a day. However, an administrator can manually trigger this synchronization to see the table without waiting. And there you go, your Timetonic data is now in Metabase, ready to be analyzed and manipulated. In the next video, we will create our graphics and display our dashboard directly in the Timetonic workspace. See you soon. Subtitles
